I’m in the process of writing a few things:
-My Hurricane Katrina story. A coworker/friend of mine asked me about my experience, but I never want to start talking about it at work. It’s less of an “I’m not comfortable talking about it” and more of a “there’s nothing like starting one of the most dramatic/traumatic stories of your life thus far only to be interrupted by someone ordering a coffee” kind of thing. So I’m writing it down for her to read. Maybe I’ll post it here, too.
-My story about Zollie Zombie. It’s going to be a children’s book about Zollie, the only zombie in the world with feelings. My good friend, Chris, will be illustrating it. I’m really excited about it! It started off as a joke, but we decided we should totally go for it. More to come of that!
-More random things that I’ve been working on for years.
My neighbor is a makeup artist and aspiring actress. She posted something on facebook about an audition this Saturday for a dinner detective show that’s pretty much all improv. I’ve never really done improv before, unless you count a COPS mock-umentary I participated in, which I don’t because mentioning it would mean showing it, and 16 year old Jodie acting like a cross-dressing male prostitute, while funny to say/think about, is not something I share with just anyone. Long story short, I’m going. Saturday morning, she’ll be doing my makeup and taking pictures of me to use as potential headshots, and I’ll be manipulating my three years of voice lessons and various modeling classes into some kind of resume. Choosing softball over the musical in high school has me, as it always does, kicking my own ass. I’m sure I’ll be posting more about this later.
I wish I had more time to share more of what’s going on to whoever actually reads my posts. I’ve been busy with two jobs, and any down time is spent watching movies, sleeping, or trying to be creative. I’ll try harder, tumblr. I promise.
